Sat, Aug 18: Allmendhusel and Schilthorn

We took a cable car to Allmendhusel station – for the views, and for a wildflower walk.  The walk would be better in the spring.

Several people carrying Alpine Horns for a concert in the mountains.

Then we took a cable car to the station on Schilthorn mountain (9,744 feet).  Great views.

More photos from cable car and Schilthorn ...

We ate lunch at the top, in a revolving restaurant famous for being blown up in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service.  The restaurant was packed, but we were very lucky to get a table at which the people next to the window were just leaving.  We sat through two rotations of the restaurant, one waiting to have our order taken – they were very busy and very crowded due to a half-marathon, which finished just below the restaurant.  We enjoyed watching the runners making their way up the trails on the very steep mountain side.

There was also a Triathlon finishing there later in the day.  It was very crowded going down, we had to wait through two cable cars before we got on.   When we got to Mürren, the triathalon athletes were starting their run from the valley through Mürren and up the mountain.
