Sat, Aug 25: Mt. Titlis

We took a train to Engelberg.  In an unusual development for Switzerland, the train ran slow, and finally broke down.  We had to wait for another train, costing us an hour.

At Engelberg, we took a cog train, cable car, and gondola to top of Mt Titlis (10,000 feet).  Gondolas rotate 360 degrees on the way up and down.  The gondola goes right over the glacier.

At the top, we had great views of other mountains and a glacier, except it was very cloudy, with only occasional clearings.  We ate lunch at the top.

We did not have time for the Ice Palace, as we had to catch the last Gondola down, where we heard the ubiquitous cow bells.

It rained on the way back to Lucerne, but that stopped in the late afternoon.
